USAF Heritage Brass

The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band is proud to present Heritage Brass, a pioneering symphonic brass ensemble.  Bringing the military tradition of brass and percussion to the concert stage, Heritage Brass presents programs that are both exhilarating and intimate.


Representing Air Force professionals serving across the globe, Heritage Brass showcases the serviceís excellence and precision in every performance throughout the eastern seaboard, from South Carolina to Maine.  Comprised of ten brass players and a percussionist, the ensemble maintains a rigorous performance schedule presenting a diverse repertoire featuring orchestral transcriptions, patriotic favorites, jazz standards, new compositions and distinctive arrangements.  Whether performing in a concert hall, an educational venue, a large sporting event, or in support of a military function, their innovative approach allows them to perform both as a large symphonic group and an intimate chamber ensemble.


As professional Airman-musicians, Heritage Brass is committed to inspiring our American public, communicating our Air Force Core Values, and honoring our nationís veteranís through the power of music.  They are proud to represent our nationís Airmen who fly, fight, and win in air, space, and cyberspace.

Eastern New York American Guild of Organists Chapter Workshop

CHANT 101.  "Plain(song) and Simple: How to chant musically and prayerfully"

Join us for a Chant Workshop at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (at the corner of Eagle Street and Madison Avenue in downtown Albany).  Dr. Brian F. Gurley, Cathedral Director of Music and Organist, will be the presenter.

This introductory workshop will include a discussion of basic chant theory, but focus on practical applications for choristers and conductors alike.  The Choir of the Cathedral will be present to lead demonstrations.  Following the workshop, a brief service of Sung Compline will be celebrated, observing the Solemnity of the 164th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Please share the event and bring your choristers and friends! The event is free and open to the public.  Street parking is available along Madison Avenue.  Free parking is available in the lighted "Cathedral Lot" (operated by NYS), the entrance to which is located off of Madison Avenue behind the Cathedral.  Handicap entrance is located at the Madison Avenue transept.

Organist Kevin J. Vaughn in Concert

Kevin J. Vaughn is Director of Music and Organist at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in South Bend, Indiana; Instructor of Organ at Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana; and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Piano and Organ at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana.  Kevin was a semifinalist in the 2013-2014 cycle of the National Young Artist Competition in Organ Performance sponsored by the American Guild of Organists, and, in February 2015, he won first prize in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Organ Scholar Competition in Evanston, Illinois.  He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano, organ, and sacred music, including the first Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance conferred by the University of Notre Dame (May 2016). His former teachers include Phyllis Warner, Gail Walton, and Craig Cramer.  An active member of the American Guild of Organists, Kevin currently serves as Dean of the St. Joseph Valley (IN) Chapter and holds the Guild's Colleague certificate.  www.kevinjvaughn.com
