First Friday Devotions

Having recently completed my first year here with you, and being able to share my priestly ministry here at the Cathedral with Fr. Tallman and Fr. Mijas, I believe we’re at a good point to begin to offer First Friday Devotions from Confessions at 11:30am to 3:30pm, a staple in our Church’s history and liturgical life.

Fr. Mijas has graciously accepted to hear confessions at 11:30am and to offer the 12:15pm Mass each Friday. On the first Friday of each month, immediately following the Prayer After Communion, Fr. Mijas will expose the Most Blessed Sacrament, singing the hymn of exposition, “O Salutaris Hostia”. At the conclusion of the hymn, he will lead the recitation of the litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus which will then allow for public adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. At 3:00pm, there will be recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, hymn before benediction—“Tantum Ergo”—concluding prayer, benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Divine Praises, reposition and concluding hymn, “Holy God We Praise They Name”. First Friday Devotions will commence on Friday, August 3rd and continue each First Friday thereafter.
