Lent I               18 February 2024         2:00pm The Rite of Election

After a lengthy period of seeking an encounter with Jesus Christ through the Word, Bishop Edward Scharfenberger elects Catechumenal Candidates for the Initiation Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation & Eucharist and welcomes Christians who will be received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church at the Great Vigil of Easter.

Lent II             25 February 2024         3:00pm Cain and Abel Have Their Day in Court

Rabbi Dan Ornstein of Congregation Ohav Shalom in Albany will take us on an interpretive and spiritual journey through the Cain and Abel story.  We’ll imagine God’s confrontation with Cain as a murder trial in which Cain – and all humanity – are the defendants. How are we to balance justice and mercy?

Lent III            3 March 2024               3:00pm Hidden Mercy

Journalist and national correspondent Michael J. O’Loughlin, author of Hidden Mercy: AIDS, Catholics and the Untold Stories of Compassion in the Face of Fear will discuss his book which offers hope filled and inspirational personal encounters with people who suffered from AIDS and what it means for us to respond to those in need.

Lent IV            10 March 2024             3:00pm Voices from the Passion

Pope Paul VI wonderfully said, “Modern people listen more willingly to witnesses than teachers”. Bertrand Fay, poet, priest & teacher will explore and present threw his poetry the witness of people who suffered alongside Jesus in his passion making up, as Paul wrote, what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.

Mark the Feast of Saint Patrick with the Schenectady Pipe Band and the Cathedral Choir.

Under the Direction of Tim Reno, Director of Music of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception enjoy the Siena College Choirs and Alumni Clare Ensemble and Singers presenting “Requiem” by John Rutter.

FREE Parking for Cathedral liturgies and events is available in the garage diagonally across from the front of the Cathedral.
