Daily Eucharist in Downtown Albany – A New Arrangement

We can no longer act and make decisions as separate parishes without taking into account the broader situation of an area. Thus, the parish leadership of the City of Albany has been discussing how best to the use the limited resources we have among our city parishes to address the spiritual needs of the people. This includes our human and financial resources and our facilities. Taking into consideration that we have fewer people and priests, an abundance of buildings that now exceed our needs, and the need to reduce our costs and the duplication of liturgies across the city, it has been decided with confirmation from the Bishop to celebrate one daily Eucharist in one Church in downtown Albany.

Beginning Monday, 8 January 2024, daily Eucharist will be celebrated Monday thru Friday at Historic St. Mary’s Church, 10 Lodge Street at 12:05pm. Saint Mary’s was chosen because of its location in the heart of the City and State governmental offices. This means that there will be no regular daily liturgical services at the Cathedral. This is presently the situation at Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Vincent DePaul parishes. Churches will be open for prayer, contemplation, silence and the experience of beauty.

Mass Intentions that have already been requested will be transferred to Saint Mary. Future Mass Intentions can be requested through Saint Mary’s Parish Office at 518.462.4254.

Street parking is limited in downtown Albany. There is a parking lot across the street at the Hilton Albany.
Alternatively, if you desire or need another time for the Eucharist you may participate at these city parishes:

Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 607 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12206
Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 am; Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00 pm; Friday at 7:00pm.

Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell Street, Albany, NY 12208
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8:15 am; Wednesday at 5:30 pm.

Saint Pius X, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville, NY 12211
Monday< Tuesday & Friday at 9:00am; Wednesday & Thursday at 6:30am.
